4 Oregon craft beverage makers team to restore state’s forests
One million plus. That’s how many acres of lost forestry a fire from a freak windstorm cost the State of Oregon, more than double the devastation in recent years.
The record-breaking 2020 damage helped form a coalition of four leading Oregon craft brewers, which teamed up to with Oregon Parks Forever to raise funds dedicated to replanting 25,000 trees. The coalition includes sustainability-minded craft beverage producers Stoller Wine Group ( Willamette Valley), Pelican Brewing (the Oregon Coast), Portland Cider Company (Portland) and Sunriver Brewing (Bend).
During July and August, $1 from every 6-pack of cans of Sunriver Brewing and Pelican Brewing beer and Portland Cider Company cider, and 375mL cans of Canned Oregon wine sold will be donated toward Oregon Parks Forever as part of its tree replanting campaign. Each dollar collected will cover the cost of planting one tree.
Oregon Parks Forever has set a goal of planting at least one million trees.
